Applications Are Now Open For The Berlin Startup Stipendium

Incubators have now opened applications for the Berlin Startup Stipendium (BSS). With up to €31 million in public funding, the program aims to support around 680 early-stage founders, doubling the reach of its previous iteration. This expansion underscores Berlin’s ambition to solidify its position as a leading European hub for technology-driven entrepreneurship.

The BSS provides founders with a monthly stipend of up to €2,500 for up to 12 months, enabling them to focus on product development, market validation, and early customer traction. The program is delivered through nine leading incubators across the city, which offer workspaces, mentorship, coaching, and structured startup development programs.

BSS Incubators

  • SIBB – Digitalverband Berlin-Brandenburg
  • MotionLab.Berlin – Hardtech Innovation Hub
  • HTW Berlin – Startup Center
  • Technologiepark Adlershof – Adlershof Startup Lab (WISTA)
  • Berlin Innovation Agency (BIA)
  • Science & Startups – TU Berlin / FU Berlin / HU Berlin
  • Startup Incubator Berlin
  • Startup Colors – Vision Health Pioneers Incubator
  • Grace – Accelerate Female Entrepreneurship (ignore gravity)
  • Avant Now – Ambition · Capital · Impact

Two of these incubators, Startup Colors and Grace, emphasize support for majority-female teams, reflecting the program’s commitment to diversity.

For investors, the BSS represents a strategic opportunity to tap into a high-quality pipeline of early-stage startups. "The program’s intensive coaching and mentoring increase the likelihood of viable, investment-ready ventures emerging," notes a spokesperson from the Senate. This de-risks early-stage teams by reducing financial and operational burdens, allowing founders to focus on building scalable businesses. Additionally, the BSS Women track expands opportunities for female entrepreneurs by offering extended support cycles, tailored mentorship, and additional funding options.

The renewed dynamism in Berlin’s startup ecosystem is further reinforced by the BSS’s focus on diversity and inclusion. "Diverse teams bring innovative perspectives that are increasingly valued by LPs and investors," explains an industry analyst. This aligns with Berlin’s broader goal of enhancing its global competitiveness as a top-tier innovation launchpad.

Applications for the BSS are now open, with rolling deadlines across incubators from March to April 2026. Each incubator manages its own application process, offering founders multiple pathways to access funding and support.
