Cohere Expands Berlin Tech Footprint with Reliant AI Acquisition

Cohere has acquired Reliant AI, a Montreal and Berlin-based biopharma AI specialist, to expand its sovereign enterprise AI offerings for the global healthcare and life sciences sectors. This move follows Cohere’s April 2026 acquisition of Berlin’s Aleph Alpha, which created a combined trans-Atlantic AI champion.

The latest deal integrates Reliant AI’s domain-optimized technology, proprietary biomedical datasets, and research expertise into Cohere’s platform, further strengthening its position in regulated industries where data privacy and compliance are critical.

The acquisition enhances Cohere’s ability to provide secure, compliant AI solutions tailored for healthcare and biopharma, building on its existing partnerships in administrative, clinical, and revenue cycle workflows. Reliant AI’s flagship product, an intelligent research workbench, automates literature reviews, competitive landscaping, and data extraction, accelerating decision-making for global biopharma organizations.

This technology will be integrated into Cohere’s North for Pharma, an agentic AI system designed to boost productivity in R&D, clinical development, and scientific analytics.

The deal also includes the assumption of Reliant AI’s customer relationships, such as GSK, Medicus Pharma, and Kyowa Kirin, further expanding Cohere’s reach in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.
