How Noah Labs Expands Berlin’s Role in AI-Powered Healthcare Solutions
Berlin-based health tech startup Noah Labs is advancing the use of artificial intelligence to improve early detection and care for heart disease, a leading cause of death in Germany. Founded in 2021, is combining clinical research with AI-driven tools to support patients with reduced heart function and enable earlier medical intervention.
The company was established by Oliver Piepenstock, Marcus Hott, and Dr. Leonhard Riehle, bringing together expertise in public health, machine learning, and cardiology. Their approach reflects a growing trend in Berlin’s tech ecosystem, where interdisciplinary teams are developing digital health solutions grounded in research and real-world clinical needs.
At the centre of Noah Labs’ offering is its telemonitoring platform, Ark. The system collects patient vital data through connected devices such as blood pressure monitors and scales, transmitting the information to healthcare professionals. This continuous monitoring allows for early identification of deterioration in patients with conditions such as heart failure or atrial fibrillation. Ark is certified as a Class IIa medical device under EU regulations.
The startup is also developing Vox, an AI-based tool that analyses voice patterns to detect early signs of worsening heart function. The algorithm uses deep learning models trained on proprietary audio datasets. According to findings from a study conducted by researchers at the German Heart Center of Charité in collaboration with the Mayo Clinic, subtle vocal changes may indicate declining cardiac performance. The research highlights the potential of voice analysis in remote patient monitoring and preventive care.
By enabling earlier intervention, the technology aims to reduce hospital admissions and improve patient outcomes. It may also contribute to lowering healthcare costs, particularly in systems managing chronic cardiovascular conditions.
Noah Labs has received support from several funding initiatives, including the European Innovation Council Accelerator. In 2025, the company was selected for the Berlin Startup Scholarship programme in the health track, which supports technology-driven healthcare ventures. The startup collaborates with institutions such as Humboldt University and Charité, reinforcing its ties to Berlin’s research landscape.
Berlin continues to position itself as a hub for health tech innovation, offering access to academic institutions, investors, and a growing network of startups. Companies like Noah Labs reflect how the city’s tech sector is contributing to advancements in AI-driven healthcare.
