Synthesia Targets Berlin Tech Talent with New Office and Major Hiring Push
AI video platform Synthesia is expanding its European footprint with a new office in Berlin, as part of a wider global hiring push that signals growing demand for enterprise AI tools.
The London-headquartered company plans to increase its workforce by 70% this year, adding more than 400 roles to its existing team of over 600 employees. Berlin is expected to play a central role in this expansion, particularly as Synthesia targets growth across Germany and the wider DACH region.
Synthesia develops AI-powered video generation software that creates digital avatars for corporate communications. Its client base includes major enterprises such as Merck, Orange and Zoom, reflecting strong adoption among global organisations.
The Berlin office is part of a €25m+ investment into new hubs across Europe and the US, including additional locations in Austin and Paris, alongside an expanded presence in Zurich. Much of the investment is expected to go toward hiring, with a focus on go-to-market and customer-facing roles.
“This is a commitment from Synthesia to build a whole team — from pre-sales, sales and post-sales — to work together with our customers, wherever they sit,” said Laura Gonzalez, chief of staff and head of people at Synthesia, speaking to Sifted.
Berlin’s growing reputation as a tech hub appears to have influenced the decision. The city continues to attract international startups looking to tap into a deep talent pool and proximity to key European markets. Synthesia highlighted the importance of hiring local talent to support regional customers.
“When it comes to serving some of these regions, it’s important to be able to attract local talent,” Gonzalez said.
The expansion follows a $200m Series E funding round announced in January, led by Google Ventures, which valued the company at $4bn. The funding is supporting both geographic growth and product development as Synthesia scales its operations.
The company reports strong commercial momentum, with expectations to reach $200m in annual recurring revenue by the end of 2026. It has also tripled the number of enterprise contracts worth over $100k in the past year, underlining increased demand for AI-driven video solutions.
Synthesia already operates offices in London and New York, with smaller teams spread across Munich, Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Zurich. The addition of Berlin strengthens its presence in Germany’s competitive tech ecosystem.
As hiring ramps up, Berlin’s role is likely to focus on customer success, sales and regional support functions, aligning with the company’s strategy to build closer relationships with enterprise clients across Europe.
